Dukes Wood walk

Supposed to be hotter than Greece today and it's only mid-april. A lovely walk with my lovely friend Beth through cowslips and bluebells surrounded by the beautiful sound  of woodland birds and priv'y to a very shy appearence of Mr.Stoat. Such a gorgeous day! Hope the weather lasts for Easter.

This is supposed to be my pottery blog shows how much potting I'm doing!!!! Tomorrow !
Actually i am just waiting for the kiln to cool down enough to open later today and I am extremely nervous as always. I would be temped to open it too soon if i were there.

SMILE

" Most smiles are started by another smile "   Frank Howard Clarke, playwright.

Lucy Casson.  "The upholsterers"

Detail from above.

Such a lovely day out, a fantastic exhibition  and it did make us smile, some very clever work but probably need to go and linger for longer next time as there is so much detail to take in.  The Automata below by Robert Race were amazing.  13 makers and all and totally original.
A " must see  " and on until the 30th may.

The Smiffies came to play..

Messing about with clay.
Samuel
Becka, Samuel and Ted all came to play as it's half term. Ted wanted to make a Lancaster Bomber  hanger and a control tower but we managed to dissuade him and convinced him that a cat would be much better. Samuel made a figure  and becka made a lovely lidded pot with a gremlin on top, sorry Becka don't know what else to call it, it's a very nice gremlin!!!

February already...

Can't quite believe my last blog was last year... the studio really was too cold for a very long time so I just closed it down and hoped for the best. It was fine and nothing froze up thank goodness, so now I'm up and running again and the temperature in there in  double figures, just! Had my 2 electric fires on last week and it went up to 15oC  positively tropical I'd say!
Anyway have had a few classes and sold a few pots and left some of my smoked porcelain jewellery bits at The Barn Gallery in Southwell so things are on the move again and am really looking forward to the year ahead.
I am in the process of trying out a few new techniques with coloured slips so hopefully I'll have some new work to show very soon. Here are a few pics of my Thursday evening session ....with Grace,Amber, Gwen and Lucille....
